We purchased tickets for the Sunday night, 11:00-11:30PM time slot. I did not tell my kids where were going. Instead, they did their bedtime routine and instead of going to sleep, they stayed up and played Spot It, until 10PM. We loaded up the car (with a very soundly sleeping baby in tow) and headed off to Aloha Stadium to kick off the holiday season.
Once we arrived, they confirmed our ticket purchase and we went through a series of twists and turns and winding paths to a beautifully lit welcome sign and live Santa greeting up with “Merry Christmas!” We tuned our radio station to the station they instructed, turned off our headlights, and enjoyed a smooth and ‘illuminating’ drive. We took turns playing our favorite Christmas songs during the drive.
What we enjoyed most about Show Aloha Land
The light tunnels were everyone’s favorites! We all wished the entire drive-through was a series of light tunnels, one after the other, like a video game :). Once the drive was over, we were instructed park if we wanted to view the light show tree. Of course, the food trucks were all closed up by then, but we enjoyed watching the beautiful tree.
Our overall impression of the drive-through holiday light show
Our overall impression was, it was a beautifully created show. The light tunnels were the main attraction and highlight, especially if you have big kids. The little will especially enjoy it. If I had to do it again, I would have not chosen the 11PM time slot. Instead, I would have booked a show on another day that was earlier.
Here’s our Quick Video Recap
What you should know before you go
First Hawaiian Bank offers discounts codes up to a certain date. Thus, your $50 vehicle fee is discounted to by 10% off Friday / Saturday / Sunday after 9:00PM and 20% off Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday/ Thursday after 9:00PM. Discount codes are not active from December 18 through January 2, 2020.
This might be a great way to end the evening after seeing a Drive-In Movie at the Ala Moana Center.
Also, I’d planned to purchase my girls keiki sized hot chocolate from Starbucks on the way over, but again, it was late and Starbucks was closed. Of course, we could have made our own, but I didn’t have hot chocolate ingredients on hand.
