4 Places to Satisfy Your Kid’s Cupcake Cravings in Honolulu

[dropcap]I[/dropcap] admit the title should read, “4 Places to Satisfy Your Cupcake Cravings in Honolulu -And Your Kids will Love them Too!” But who has time for long titles like that? And let’s be honest, the four and under crowd love ALL cupcakes. Box, gourmet, store-bought, none of that matters. If it starts with ‘cup’ and ends with ‘cake’ they’re good.

So who has the BEST cupcakes in Honolulu? That all depends on what your particular preferences are. I myself have a preference for Hokulani Bake Shop. Simply because they seem to always be in the perfect location, at the perfect time for my three-year old to notice and say, “Ooooooh, cupcakes! Can I have one? Pleeeeeeease? Now, I’m not one to indulge a three-year on their every request, but I do have a track record of indulging in some cupcakes.

We (me, my three year-old and one-year old) have sampled several cupcakes from around the island and if you’re hunting for a good spot to satisfy your cravings, here are four places certain to please your palate!

1.  Hokulani Bake Shop

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]mong the four, this is probably the most popular as they have the most shops on Oahu. Thus, you’re more likely to run across a Hokulani shop than any other shop listed.  You can find a Hoklani Bake Shop in the following locations:  Windward Mall, Pearlridge Mall, Hyatt Regency Waikiki, Pioneer Plaza, and Restaurant Row.

As an aside, am I the only one who’s noticed a striking resemblance of branding between Hokulani and the Halekulani? On purpose or pure coincidence? Who knows? My vote is definitely on-purpose.  You know what, it works. I love me some Hokulani and The Halekulani.  So, well done Hokulani brand stategist!

2.  Sugarlina

[dropcap]S[/dropcap]ugarlina, Sugarlina! The name alone makes me dream of sweet, dainty, tasty and lovely little cupcakes. And trust me, these cupcake won’t disappoint.  They’re located in the shopping center across the street from Pearlridge Mall, so not quite Honolulu proper. It’s a cute and quaint little shop. Just walking in their shop and seeing their cupcake display makes you want to purchase a half dozen cupcakes. I had the Lilikoi Mango cupcake and it was pure bliss!

3. Let Them Eat Cupcakes

[dropcap]L[/dropcap]et Them Eat Cupcakes wins the award for Best Bake Shop Phone Number, (808) 531-CAKE! How cute is that? They’re located in Downtown Honolulu and in addition to their delicious cupcakes (you can’t go wrong with the double chocolate), they now offer a loose leaf tea bar, making it an ideal place to have a mother’s tea and dessert catch-up with your favorite mommy-friend. I wish more bake shops would offer a cafe type of set-up, it just makes the cupcake experience much more pleasant don’t you think?  Heads up: They’re not open on Sundays or Mondays!

4.  Cake Couture

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]his place really knows how to do cupcakes! The website alone should let you know they they don’t play when it comes to throwing down on cupcakes. Don’t believe me? Watch their video http://www.yelp.com/biz/cake-couture-honolulu! Located in Aina Haina Shopping Center, this place is pristine, the cupcake are divine, and the staff are pleasant and super friendly. The design aesthetic reminds me of my favorite bakery in Tokyo Midtown. Everything is displayed perfectly.  I love this place so much, I’d live in the place if I could. (If you’re a citrus fan, try their lemon cupcake!)

Who else should be on the list? Tell me your favorites. I’m always down for a cupcake adventure!

  1. Great post!!! While reading, I felt like we were talking and you’d start off by saying, “girl, let me tell you about these cupcakes…” Lol!

  2. Congrats on your blog! What an awesome post! Makes me want to go to Hawaii just for the cupcakes! Ok maybe not just for the cupcakes but it certainly wouldn’t hurt having a few while I’m there!
